The HambleMEGS (Hamble Marine Engine Gas System) Equipment

The HambleMEGS equipment available exclusively from HambleMEGS appointed conversion specialists has been developed over the years to become a leader in its field.  Hamble Marine is now the UK's largest specialist supplier of marine engine conversion kits and parts. The HambleMEGS equipment offers the following benefits:

  • Save over 65% on running costs by converting to Marine Gas
  • Running on Marine Gas gives comparable performance to petrol.  Because of the difference in calorific values of the fuels, there is a slight reduction in output power when running on LPG but in our system, this is generally limited to a few per cent.

  • Reliable technology - the HambleMEGS/MGS system is a tried-and-tested system. Improvements and developments over 10 years have resulted in an easy, safe and very effective system. The LPG systems we fit can provide hundreds of hours of operation.

  • A dual-fuel engine means easy switching from Marine Gas to petrol; as the petrol fuel system is retained, the cruising range is greatly extended and switching between fuel systems is accomplished by a simple change-over switch mounted at the helm.
  • Most 4-stroke petrol in-board engines (including fuel-injected ones) can be converted.

  • With a 60% cut in fuel bills, the cost of conversion can be recouped in around 100 hours.

  • A Marine Gas conversion is a 1/4 of the cost of a diesel re-engine**

  • The electronic management system constantly monitors the engine bay and fuel storage tank areas for any leaks and will shut down the system before they reach a dangerous level.

  • Cleaner running; exhaust fumes and smoke are substantially reduced; better for the environment (our system appears in the Green Directory)Green Directory
  • We only use parts and components from world-leaders in LPG technology.

  • Small parts (clips, screws etc) are specified as stainless steel where ever possible.
  • Once the installation is completed, no further specialised adjustments or servicing are required except for an annual safety inspection and test by our engineers.
  • Our installations are carried out in accordance with the relevant Code of Practice issued by the LP Gas Association.

  • All our installers are boat engine specialists.

  • The equipment is also distributed to the trade under the "MGS" name, now known as "Marine Gas Supplies".

  • National service available at local level - from Essex & Kent to Devon & Cornwall you are probably within 50 miles of one of our Registered Installers.

  • An initial survey is carried out to investigate feasibility and possible location of major items such as fuel tank, vapouriser and the LPG filler fitting.

  • Discussion with Customer of findings from initial survey and agreement on price and date of installation.

  • Fitting by trained and competent specialist engineers who, on completion, will fully test the engine management and alarm systems.

  • Further safety and engine check 4 weeks after installation.

** Based on 60% cut in fuel bills. The cost of conversion (from £3,000 for a single engine) can be recouped in 100 hours.

* Cost of LPG is 45p/lit. Marina petrol prices vary across the country but are typically £1.15p/lit.
