Report on our Open Day held on 12th May

The theme was "Fuel below 60p/litre now and in 2009*"

Hamble Marine Ltd held their first "LPG Open day" on 12th May at Mariners Quay, Warsash.
The weather was less than kind which kept a couple of gas-fuelled boats from venturing out to sea.  However, there were 2 gas-fuelled boats there for people to see and plenty to talk about.
In addition to staff from Hamble Marine, people from FloGas UK Ltd and Solent Marine Engineering Ltd were on hand to answer questions.
A live demonstration of "Boat Track" was also available to show its capabilities.
Several photographs of people, boats and LPG conversion parts were taken, a small selection of which are attached.....
"openday1" shows Peter Burton (MD of Hamble Marine) and two of the girls helping on the day on board Peter's own (gas-converted) boat.
"engconv1" shows a typical twin-Volvo installation.
"tankconv2" shows Peter Burton (MD of Hamble Marine) explaining about the positioning of some of the sensors fitted to the system.
"tankconv" shows the gas tank installation from one of the boats on show.
"mixers" shows a standard mixer (left) and a heavy-duty mixer (right).  (The mixer is a vital part of the gas conversion that sets the correct proportion of air to gas mixture into the carburettor.)
"switch" shows the main control switch (the only part that most owners ever see !!!)

* The marina price of LPG is currently around 45p/lit and is not expected to rise when the duty and VAT on diesel increase in 2008.
